Escaping the Shackles of the EU

Dear Sir,

Mr Taylor [letters 4 April] suggests that those who voted to leave the authoritarian EU to secure democracy, freedom and the right to be in control of their own destiny did so for selfish reasons.   How can this be? By his own admission he believes that Brexit will result in poor growth and lower wages and, according to other pundits, even worse.     It should also be remembered that this unselfish decision gave hope to the ordinary people of other countries by demonstrating that it is possible to escape the shackles of the EU and the self-serving political class.

Yours faithfully,

David Ramsbotham
